[Yes. Those beautiful hands that are calloused, and yet so graceful and clean as they move across the keys. His fingers are long and thin, and if you didn't know who they belonged to, you might have guessed a woman. He may or may not also be playing them up a little bit, but that only adds to the mesmerizing effect that they have on the eyes.]
I can show you... Here.
[Abruptly, the melody stops, and he's taking Shion's hand and placing them on the keys before overlapping his own over them. He presses them down, playing a single chord.]
Here...
[He guides his hand over to the next chord in the same manner, smirking in amusement as he does so. He presses it down. He'll keep it to those two for the moment...]
[Shion, on the other hand, has hands that have never had a callous a day in his life. They're pristine and soft, like they've never been burnt on a pan straight from the oven or cut with a cooking knife. They're like baby's hands, even and smooth.]
Is there a form I need to remember? I've only played with one finger before, but your hands look beautiful when they move across the keys. It reminds me of dancing.
[He finds himself instinctively arching his hand up to press his skin closer to Nezumi's, yet once their hands have parted he stalls for a brief moment before playing both chords just as Nezumi did.]
[He smoothly ignores the other boy's comment, but it doesn't go unheard. He watches as he copies the chords with ease, then places his hands over Shion's with grace. He plays the same two chords, then adds two more.
He leaves his fingers upon Shion's for just a couple seconds too long, before pulling them away and smiling.]
[As almost anyone would expect from him, Shion replicates the chords flawlessly. His form isn't perfect, but Nezumi should know better than to doubt his memorization skills.
Shion takes a moment to smile with a sense of wonder, curiosity clear in his eyes as he looks up in Nezumi's direction.]
[Nezumi shows him a couple more chords, finally giving the pattern a melody. He's still lingering, and even opening touching the tips of his fingers to Shion's. He's slightly fascinated by their sheer softness, but he's unwillingly to openly caress his hand.
And he's gotten pretty used to Shion's words, so he barely pauses a breath before responding.]
[If the piano is truly the instrument of geniuses, Shion is no exception, as he copies Nezumi nearly perfectly once again. After finishing playing, he'll upturn his hand on the keyboard.]
How trusting of her. Do you think you can play the entire song?
[He's still guiding Shion's hands over the keys, reveling silently in their warmth. He's never been aware that his hands might be cooler or warmer than another human's...but he really likes this discovery. He's barely even paying attention to the notes at this point, all that's in his head is the feeling of the baby-soft warmth of Shion's fingers...]
She's really fond of you. You haven't noticed? She always tells me that you should come over more often.
[Seemingly without much thought (aside from a long, untrained pause), Shion begins playing the song just as he was taught. In spite of his hand positioning and the second-long hesitation he takes between the segments he was taught, it's actually quite good for someone that's never played before.]
[As Shion starts to play the song, Nezumi positions his hands to keys around him, and starts to play a far more complicated melody to compliment the main one.]
You know my Mom. She hugs you every time you walk in the door, doesn't she? I'm always being pestered about bringing you over.
[He continues playing without missing a beat, as if carrying on a conversation and playing at the same time is an easy feat. Nevertheless, it's clear from his elated expression that he's listening to Nezumi's playing more than anything else.]
She always makes your favourite food and offers you second helpings even when you're already full. I thought it was clear that she liked you a lot.
[The sound that comes out now is like twinkle twinkle on steroids. Nezumi is playing the counter-melody and a complimentary melody all at once. Even he has to admit that it sounds gorgeous. He's momentarily distracted by the sound before he laughs softly.]
I just figured she was an airhead like you who treated everyone like that.
[He's absolutely enthralled by Nezumi's skillful playing and stops moving his fingers without warning in favor of watching Nezumi's dance across the keys instead. That's what it looked like, he thought. Movements graceful enough to be called dancing.]
Sometimes it really feels like she thinks of you as part of the family.
Nezumi, sure, why not

No.

Wow, harsh. And here I thought my cool charisma would win you over.

[He's so humble.]

I DUNNO FENNEC?
You seriously can't play the piano?
[Like it's, you know, something that everyone can do.]
YEAH WHATEVER
[Not like he's watching Nezumi's fingers more than the piano keys, nope.]

[He simply glides his fingers across the keys, playing an overly complicated version of twinkle twinkle little star as he speaks.]
no subject
[Though he doesn't sound half as bitter as his words do, as he's too busy staring intently at Nezumi's hands.]

This much is easy.

Try that.

Shion takes a moment to smile with a sense of wonder, curiosity clear in his eyes as he looks up in Nezumi's direction.]
Is this part of a song?
no subject
It's part of the song that I was just playing.
[He gives Shion five chords this time, being achingly slow, almost as if he wants their hands pressed together like this. He turns to smile at him.]
With practice, you could probably play this easily.
[Nezumi is considering teaching Shion a duet as he speaks, always having wanted to try one out, but never having one to try it with.]
no subject
[Shion's hands linger in place even longer than Nezumi's, and he consistently takes a few drawn out seconds before beginning to play the chords.]

And he's gotten pretty used to Shion's words, so he barely pauses a breath before responding.]
Wouldn't your mama worry?
no subject
She won't worry since she'll know I'm with you.
[Spoken plain as day.]

Just play it on repeat. Does she really say that?
